DAL MAKHANI
Dal Makhani Recipe is very classical Indian dish made with whole urad dal,rajma,butter,cream and some raw spices. Urad dal(black beans) is very similer to mung beans. It's popular lentils recipe and rich source of protein ,calcium and iron. Dal makhani is very famous dish in India specially in Punjab and North India. You can serve Dal Makhani with jeera rice and naan. This is very delicious and easy recipe for cooking . I always love to cook this recipe. So lets start cooking with me.....

Ingredients list  :
  • Urad dal(black beans) : 1& half cup(overnight soaked)
  • Rajma(red kidney beans) : 1/3 cup(overnight soaked)
  • Water : 5 cupso
  • Ginger garlic paste : 2 tablespoon
  • Tomato : 2 (blanched and pureed)
  • Turmeric powder : 1teaspoon
  • Bay leaf : 2
  • Cumin seeds : 1/4 teaspoon
  • Clove : 4-5
  • Large cardamom(bdi ilaichi) : 2
  • Cream : 100 ml
  • Salt : 1-2 teaspoon(as per taste)
  • Asafoetida powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil : 1 tablespoon
  • Butter : 1 tablespoon
Cooking Method : 
  • Pressure cook soaked urad dal and rajma beans in pressure cooker with water and 1 teaspoon salt for 30 minutes on medium heat.
  • Heat kadai/pan add oil then butter after that add cumin seeds,badi ilaichi, bay leaves and cloves, let it splutter. Mix ginger garlic paste,stir fry for 3-4 minutes. After that mix turmeric powder stir fry all spices for few seconds.
  • Add 2 tomato puree and cook well for 5 minutes.
  • Add cooked lentils in puree,Mix it properly. After that add 1cup water and cook for 15 minutes in medium heat.
  • Add cream and stir well,cook for 5 more minutes.
  • Serve with dash of butter and cream with your favorite Naan or Jeera rice.
Butter Naan :  You can serve Butter naan with Dal Makhani. This is best combination, I have eaten. You can serve butter naan with different Indian curries. Basically Naan is made from maida(all purpose flour) but here I have used pure wheat flour for making this Butter Naan. You will also try and enjoy this.....

Ingredients : 
  • Packed Yeast : 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar : 1 teaspoon
  • Luke warm water : 1/3 cup (for soaking yeast)
  • Water : 1/2 cup(extra which need for dough)
  • Wheat flour : 2 cups
  • Oil : 2 tablespoon
  • Salt : 1 teaspoon
  • Butter : 2 talespoon( for spreading on naan)
Naan Masala :
                          1 tablespoon crushed nuts with 1/2 teaspoon saunf(funnel seeds),1/2 teaspoon kalaunji (black seeds),1/2 tsp poppy seeds.

Method : 
  • Mix the yeast with sugar and water. Keep aside for 5-6 minutes.
  • Mix the wheat flour,oil and salt together in a bowl. Then pour yeast mixture and knead and form a soft dough. Cover the dough and keep in a warm place to rise till double in size.(approx 1 hr)

  • Dough should be rested for one hr before preparing the bread

  • Dip each in naan masala roll into an oblong shape.

  • Heat tava/pan and place your naan. Bake both side till it has brown spots.
  • Brush with butter on Nan and serve hot.
