Palak Paneer recipe | Palak Paneer with corn recipe step by step with photo and full description. Palak paneer is very popular Indian recipe which made from paneer or Indian cottage cheese with palak|spinach puree, onion and spices. This super healthy and tasty dish belongs to North Indian cuisine which you can serve with roti/naan and rice.
Palak Paneer recipe | Palak Paneer with corn recipe is most popular dish in U.P & Punjab region. This palak paneer recipe used to cook by my mom on special occasion and I learnt this recipe from her. This recipe is my childhood favorite recipe and I usually prefer to eat palak paneer with roti and rice.
Palak Paneer recipe is vegetarian recipe and if you want the vegan version of this recipe you can use tofu instead of paneer. Tofu also gives very nice taste with palak curry.
You can prepare this recipe at any special day like festival, birthday party or special occasion and enjoy with your family & friends.
Saag Paneer Vs Palak Paneer:
Saag Paneer & Palak Paneer both are totally different recipes but people used to think that those are same. Palak Paneer is very delicious and authentic vegetarian Indian curry recipe which made from creamy spinach sauce and paneer.
In Saag Paneer recipe, there are many leafy green(dill leaves, mustard leaves, kale leaves, spinach leaves etc.) used in this recipe. These different types of green leaves combination makes it Saag.
Traditionally Saag Paneer is recipe which is combination of different types of leafy greens along with paneer cubes.
Palak Paneer and Saag Paneer both are healthy and nutritious recipe. The choice is yours's which one you prefer to eat. In India Palak Paneer is most popular and common dish than Saag paneer.
Palak Paneer recipe:
Prep-time : 25 minutes- Spinach : 400 gm(washed and chopped)
- Green chilli : 2(sliced)
- Garlic cloves : 2(sliced)
- Water : 3cups
- Paneer/tofu : 250gm
- Onion : 1(chopped)
- Ginger garlic onion paste : 1cup(4garlic,1onion,1&half inch ginger,3tbsp water)
- Cumin Seeds : 1tsp
- Bay leaf : 2
- Oil : 3tbsp
- Turmeric powder : 1tsp
- Chilli powder : 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala : 1 tsp
- Meat masala : 1 tsp
- Curry masala :1 tsp
- Corn : 1 cup(frozen)
- Cream : 4 tbsp
- Salt : 2-3 tsp(as per taste)
- Jaggery : 2 tbsp
- Water : 1&half cup
- Heat 3 cups of water in a pan, add washed spinach in hot water. Cook it for 4-5 minutes on medium heat.
- Let it cool down then grind spinach with green chilli and garlic in food processor. Give 5-6 rotation to food processor for smooth and creamy palak puree/spinach sauce.
- Add 1 onion,1&half inch ginger and 5 garlic cloves in grinder and make a smooth paste. Keep aside in a bowl.
- Cut Paneer/Indian cottage cheese in cubes and keep it in a bowl.
- Heat 3 tbsp oil in pan.
- Add large cardamom and bay leaf.
- Mix 1tsp cumin seeds in pan. Let it splutter.
- Add 1chopped onion (1 cup) in pan.
- Sauté onion 4-5 minutes on medium heat till it become golden.
- Add turmeric powder 1tsp.
- Then mix 1/2 tsp chilli powder.
- Mix 1 tsp curry masala in pan.
- Add 1 tsp garam masala.
- Add meat masala in pan.
- Sauté all spices and onion for 20- 30 seconds.
- Add ginger, garlic and onion paste and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat.
- Mix 1 cup corn(boiled/frozen) in gravy mixture, cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Then add 4tbsp cream(if you don't have cream use yogurt). Cook it, on low heat for 3-5 minutes.
- Add salt 2-3 tsp(as per your taste).
- Add creamy spinach sauce in gravy and mix properly.
- After-that mix 1& half cup of water. Cover the pot lid and cook for 10-12 minutes on medium heat.
- After-that add 250gm Paneer\Indian cottage cheese in palak puree. Cook for 9-10 minutes on medium heat.
- Add 2 tbsp jaggery/gur and mix properly.
- Garnish with fresh cream. Palak Paneer is ready to serve.
- Serve hot with plain rice or roti.
