Khaman Dhokla/Dhokla Recipe with detailed photo and method. It is very famous & popular snack which made from besan or chick peas flour. This is a traditional recipe in western India and belongs to Gujarati cuisine. It has sweet and sour taste which makes it very tasty and yummy. You can serve it as a breakfast or evening snack. Besan Dhokla recipe is vegetarian and easy recipe to cook.
You can make Instant Khaman Dhokla recipe by steaming or in microwave as you prefer. In my way, I usually made Khaman Dhokla by steaming method.
It is very healthy,soft,sponge and tangy flavor morning snack. Dhokla recipe is very easy recipe to prepare for everyone. You can serve it with coriander chutney or mint chutney.
Khaman Dhokla Recipe/Dhokala recipe
Prep- Time : 15 minutes
- Besan/gram flour : 1&half cup
- Suji/semolina : 3tbsp
- Yogurt : 3 tbsp
- lemon juice : 2tbsp
- Turmeric : 1tsp
- Chilli powder : 1/2 tsp
- Baking soda : 1&half tsp
- Sugar : 2 tsp
- Water : 1cup
- Salt : 1tsp
- Oil : 1tbsp
- Desi ghee/oil : 1&half tbsp
- Mustard seeds : 1tsp
- Sesame seeds : 2 tsp
- Curry leaves : 2tbsp
- Green chilli : 2-3 (sliced)
- Sugar : 3 tbsp
- salt : 1&half tsp
- Water : 2&half cup
- Sieve 1& half cup besan/gram flour in bowl.
- Mix suji/semolina 3tbsp in bowl.
- Add sugar 2tsp, salt 1tsp,turmeric 1tsp,chilli powder.
- Add water 1 cup or as required and mix it.
- Add yogurt 2tbsp and lemon juice 2tbsp.
- Add 1tbsp oil and mix properly.
- Whisk the batter for 5-7 minutes, so that bubbles will form.
- Keep aside for 20-25 minutes. After -that whisk again for 2-3 minutes.
- Mix 1&half tsp baking soda and mix it.
- Pour the batter in greased container/glass box.
- Put the Dhokla batter in steamed pot and cover the lid and cook for30- 35 minutes on medium heat or until it cook completely.
- Take out Dhokla from steamed pot and let it cool down after 5-7 minutes take out in plate.
- Cut Dhokla pieces in your required shape.
- Prepare tadka in pot/pan. Heat deshi ghee/oil 1& half tbsp in pan.
- Add mustard seeds in desshi ghee.
- After- That add sesame seeds/white til in ghee.
- Then add slices chilli 2pieces and curry leaves 2tbsp. Let it splutter.
- Add water 2 &half cups, sugar 3tbsp and salt 1&half tsp.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes on medium heat. So that all spices blend well in water.
- Pour warm tadka mixture from spoon on sliced Dhokla.
- Your Instant Khaman Dhokla is ready to serve. Serve with tomato sauce, green chutney or coconut chutney.
- You can use Eno fruit salt instead of baking soda. Always mix soda or eno salt just before cooking. It will give you best result.
- Cook in medium heat and don't overcook.
- Always serve hot your Instant Khaman Dhokla. It will give amazing taste.
