 Matar Mushroom  curry recipe is very delicious and nutritious. This recipe is popular all over India, Specially in North India. It is very easy and simple to cook. You can serve it with your main course dish. You can cook it like regular curry recipe or you can use cashew and almond paste to make gravy thick and delicious. In this curry recipe, I am using basically those spices which are already available in your kitchen. Mushroom, Matar(peas) and Shimla mirch(bell pepper)are main ingredients in this curry recipe. You can serve this curry with roti/paratha and rice/pulav. Lets start cooking with me /////

Ingredients for Matar Mushroom : 
  • Onion : 1 small(chopped)
  • Garlic : 1(chopped)
  • Ginger : 1/2 inch(chopped)
  • Matar(peas) : 1 cup/150 gm
  • Red bell pepper : 1(sliced)
  • Mushroom : 1 and half cup/200 gm
  • Potato :  1 boiled(sliced)
  • Tomato :  2 small(chopped)
  • Curry leaves : 4-5 pieces
  • Coriander leaves : 3-4 branches(chopped)
  • Olive oil/Mustard oil : 2 tablespoon
  • Water : 1&half cup
For Puree : 
  • Onion : 1 small(sliced)
  • Garlic : 4-5(sliced)
  • Ginger : 1/2 inch(slices)
  • Green chili : 1(as per taste you can take more)
Spices for gravy : 
  • Cumin powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder : 1/2 teaspoon 
  • Meat masala : 1 teaspoon
  • Curry masala : 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf : 2 pieces
  • Clove : 3-4 pieces
Cooking Method : 
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan,add cumin seeds,bay leaves and cloves, let it splutter. Add chopped chili,ginger and garlic saute 1-2 minutes.
  •  After that add onion saute it, until it become brown.
  • Add Matar(peas) stir fry 2-3 minutes then add Mushroom stir fry 2-3 minutes. 
  • After that mix Red bell pepper(shimla mirch). Stir fry all vegetables 3-4 minutes.
  • Keep aside all vegetables in a plate.
  • Clean pan from tissue paper then add 1 tablespoon oil add all spices(Cumin powder,Turmeric powder,Coriander powder,Red chili powder,Meat masala,curry powder&cinnamon powder).Keep It stirring.
  • Add Onion,garlic and ginger puree in pan. Let it cook for 5-6 minutes.
  • Add tomato,salt & chopped coriander leaves. Cook for 5-6 minutes in medium heat.
  • In tomato gravy add potato,mix it properly.
  • Add sauteed vegetables in gravy, mix it properly in gravy.
  • Add water in vegetables gravy. Let it cook for 15 minutes on medium heat.
  • Matar Mushroom Curry is ready. Serve in bowl/plate garnish with coriander leaves and serve with roti/paratha and rice.Stay safe and enjoy meal.

For Rice/Pulav : 

Ingredients : Rice- 1 cup(soaked 15-20 minutes),Water-1&half cup,Pan/cooker,Oil-1 teaspoon,Cumin seeds-1/4 teaspoon.

Method : Add oil in cooker/pan,add cumin seeds. Let it splutter then add soaked rice,fry it 2-3 minutes After that add water. Cover the lid or Pressure cooker cap which you are using.
Cook for 9-10 minutes or 4-5 Whistles. Rice is ready to serve. 

  • Important Info : In my cooking ,I am using less oil and spices. So this curry recipe is very good who are health conscious. Always use Olive oil or Mustard oil for cooking, instead of any refined oil.
